Adventurous New Zealanders attracted to the upcoming Auckland On Water Boat Show are predicted to gravitate to Australia’s Maritimo three vessel display, with all boats being showcased having travelled across the Tasman under their own power for the event.
Maritimo’s Australasian sales manager, Ormonde Britton, said the fact the boats have made such an epic journey so regularly is of real interest to the thrill seeking New Zealanders and sets Maritimo apart from other brands in the New Zealand market.
“The New Zealanders have a vigorous yearning for adventure and always want to know all the details about the trip across,” he said. “In past years when we have displayed vessels that have made the journey across, we get swamped with enquiry about the details of the trip, so it is unique for all of our boats on display this year to have made the voyage under their own power”.
The Maritimo display will be comprised of an S70 sedan motor yacht, M51 flybridge motor yacht, and the new X60 sport yacht. The M51 on display is in conjunction with boat syndication company Ownaship and its principal Simon Barker.
Britton said in past years Maritimo has enjoyed considerable sales success at Auckland and he expected this year to be no different.
“In recent months in New Zealand we have definitely seen new enquiry coming from people who have seen Maritimo’s filling marinas up and down the coast and who want to know more about the brand,” he said. “The fact that our boats can handle virtually any conditions thrown at them appeals to the New Zealand market and they are consistently impressed with the information on our performance levels, sea keeping abilities and long range cruising capacity.”
Britton said the evolution of the X series range, which started at Sanctuary Cove, was causing a great deal of excitement in the New Zealand market. The world premiere of the Maritimo X60, the first model in the revolutionary new X-Series range, at the 30th Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show resulted in record sales success, aiding the highest sales record of any boat show in Maritimo’s 15-year history.
Two new X60’s are already being delivered to New Zealand with a steady stream of X60’s and X50’s to follow, which Britton said speaks volumes for the suitability of the vessel to the style of boating New Zealand is known for.
From their race infused bloodline, the X60 and X50’s powerful exterior form blankets an innovative and functional web of expansive customizable arrangements and advanced design features that will be inherent in all X-Series models.
The Maritimo X50 and X60 design incorporates an innovative aft accommodation space accessible from saloon and swim platform deck. This area can be optioned and utilised as a beach club with ensuite, twin single stateroom with ensuite, queen stateroom with ensuite (X60 only) or 3.2 metre tender garage.
Experience from the company’s international race programme have been infused into the design and construction of the vessel seeing Maritimo push the boundaries and go further than ever before in hull design, power, construction and propulsion which sees the X60 reach speeds over 34 knots, with optional 925hp Scania power, and will see the X50 reach speeds in the vicinity of 36 knots with optional 725hp Volvo power, both with exceptional trim and handling characteristics.
Maritimo X-Series lead designer, Tom Barry- Cotter said the reveal of the X50 in Sydney saw the strong sales momentum continue and he said additional models in the X series range could evolve.
Barry-Cotter said the X series’ innovative design made a strong statement to the industry that Maritimo is committed to further establishing itself as an industry leader continually pushing the boundaries of design and technology.
“We are pioneering new thinking and design, with a range of exciting new products in the sport yacht sector and seeing the product resonate with the market provides us with great confidence in the direction of our brand moving into the future”.
Maritimo’s dealer partners in New Zealand, Alistair and Sophie Hool from Hool Marine and Don and Donelle Senior at Auckland Motoryacht Centre will be on deck to expose and broaden the brand during the Auckland On Water Boat Show display.
